Guided Attraction Tours in Mumbai
Five kinds of guided attraction tour are worth knowing about in Mumbai. Each is described below with what the operator itself states, what is still unconfirmed and how to get to the start. Amounts are in Indian rupees (INR).
Community walk in Dharavi
- Operator: Reality Tours and Travel.
- Length and price: 2 hours 30 minutes, listed from about INR 1,600 on the operator’s Dharavi tour list . Versions with a pottery workshop or a family lunch start around INR 2,400, and longer packages that add a car transfer or city sightseeing cost more. A second page on its site gives higher per-person rates for shared and private groups, so confirm the final figure when booking.
- Rules: cameras are not allowed on the tour, out of respect for residents’ privacy, and photos are supplied afterwards through a download link. The operator donates 80 per cent of post-tax profits to its charity, Reality Gives.
- Good to know: the tour is a guided visit to a working neighbourhood with potters, recyclers and textile workshops, never a photo outing. The operator lists low roofs, open drains, exposed wiring and fumes. Group size and meeting point are not published and come with the booking confirmation. A large redevelopment project is under way in the area.
Heritage walk inside CSMT
- Operator: Mumbai Walking Tours (Raconteur).
- Length: about 1.5 hours over roughly 1.5 km, through the Victorian Gothic terminus built in 1887-88.
- Price: not listed, so ask.
- Good to know: the station is a UNESCO site and a working terminal that was attacked in November 2008, so keep voices low and follow the guide around commuters.
Weekend bus tour on the BEST double-decker
- Vehicle: an air-conditioned electric double-decker, not an open-top bus. The open-deck diesel sightseeing buses were retired in October 2025, as the Deccan Herald reported .
- Booking: digital tickets only, on the Chalo app.
- Fares: reported in 2023 at about INR 150 on the upper deck and about INR 75 on the lower deck. They may have changed, so check the app.
Walks and jeep tours with Khaki Tours
- Operator: Khaki Tours, whose founder is Bharat Gothoskar, has been running heritage walks and jeep tours since about 2015, according to secondary sources.
- Price: not confirmed, so ask when you enquire.
Studio visit at Film City
- Venue: Film City in Goregaon East is a working studio. Its official site lists no public tour and no price.
- Access: only as an operator-led tour with prior permission. Treat any fixed online price with caution.
Getting to the start
Taxis start at about INR 33 for the first 1.5 km, and autos at about INR 27, from 1 September 2026. Autos only run north of Bandra and Sion, not in the island city. During the June to September monsoon, add time for flooded roads and avoid the seafront at high tide.
