Multi Day Route Through Pomoravlje District
Pomoravlje District works as a stop of one to two nights on the road between Belgrade and Niš, not as a long-stay destination. The E75/A1 motorway passes Paraćin, Jagodina and Ćuprija, which makes the district simple to slot into a longer Serbian itinerary. Costs are in Serbian dinars (RSD).
A two-night outline
| Day | Base | Stops |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jagodina | Museum of Naive and Marginal Art, then the Natural History Centre in Svilajnac |
| 2 | Despotovac area | Resava Cave, Veliki Buk waterfall, Manasija |
| 3 | Leave via Ćuprija | Ravanica and the Senje mining museum, or Kalenić in Rekovac |
Choosing a base
Jagodina has the most places to stay and sits about 140 km from Belgrade and 100 km from Niš. Despotovac and Paraćin offer rural stays that put the hills and the cave closer. Cars are the practical way to move between them, because Despotovac, Manasija and the cave are a car or tour trip. Search on a booking site, then check the distance from your room to the stops you want.
Day one details
The Museum of Naive and Marginal Art is at Boška Đuričića 10 and was founded in 1960 as the Gallery of Self-taught Artists. It opens Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00, with shorter hours on Saturday (to 16:00) and Sunday (to 15:00). The Natural History Centre of Serbia in Svilajnac charges 850 RSD for adults and 550 RSD for children aged 3 to 12, and has life-size dinosaur replicas. See its ticket page .
Day two details
Reach Resava Cave early. Tours start at 08:30 and leave every 45 minutes until 15:30, and adults pay 700 RSD. The cave is in the village of Jelovac, 21 km from Despotovac, and the route on foot is about 800 m. Bring a jacket, and call 035/611-110 if you travel in winter. Veliki Buk, about 20 m high, is about 20 km east of Despotovac. Manasija lies 2 km northwest of Despotovac, and work on its ramparts is due to end by 2027. The cave operator lists any road closures.
Day three: monasteries
Ravanica in Senje and Kalenić in Rekovac are both active monasteries. Dress with covered shoulders and knees, and ask before photographing inside a church. Senje also has the Senjski Rudnik coal mining museum, which opened on 1 May 1982.
Before you travel
Demonstrations can disrupt transport at short notice, so check current advice and avoid protest gatherings. Road signs outside towns are often Cyrillic only. Summer visitors can add Aqua Park Jagodina to the plan.
