Romantic evenings and weekends in Astana

Astana is not a beach-and-sunset destination. Its romance lies in grand interiors, rooftop-level dining and warm indoor escapes while the steppe wind howls outside. A couple can build a weekend from the ideas below. Amounts are in tenge (KZT) and hedged where the figures come from secondary sources.

Friday: a high-floor dinner

Selfie occupies the 18th floor of the Ritz-Carlton Astana, inside the Talan Towers on Dostyk Street. It was named on the La Liste 2025 list, and reports put the average bill at around 30,000 KZT per person. Reservations were given as +7 777 000 05 15. Saturday morning: a slow spa session

BEIBARYS on Kenes Street has a three-hour package with a heated pool, sauna and hammam. It cost about 8,000 KZT per adult in June 2026. In summer, outdoor pool clubs such as Orman Park and Oasis Beach Club offer a day by the water, from about 5,000 to 14,000 KZT per person.

Saturday afternoon: a warm escape

In winter, the Sky Beach Club inside Khan Shatyr offers tropical air at about +30C and sand in the middle of the capital. Adults pay 20,000 KZT, and robes and towels cost extra. It reopened on 1 May 2026. Confirm opening hours with the club.

Saturday evening: the opera

The Astana Opera, with about 1,250 seats, stages opera and ballet in a gilded hall. Buy tickets through ticketon.kz or by phoning the box office on +7 7172 70-96-10. Prices depend on the performance, so check with the theatre. Smart dress is the norm.

Sunday: a dusk walk

Cross the curved Atyrau pedestrian bridge near Central Park as the sun goes down, then head to the Baiterek area, where lighting makes the plaza glow after dark. In winter, take it in short bursts of about 20 minutes between warm stops, because wind chill on the Left Bank is severe. Baiterek’s deck is at about 86 m, and tickets of around 2,000 KZT have been reported, but hours conflict between sources.

Ferris wheel

Ailand’s 65 m Ferris wheel was announced, but it is not confirmed as open. Treat it as a bonus if it turns out to be running.

A longer escape: Burabay
