Roses, Lakes and Sunsets in Siauliai
Šiauliai is not a classic honeymoon city, and it does not try to be. Its appeal for couples is gentle: green spaces, water and light in the evening. A night or two is plenty, and it combines well with a longer journey through the Baltic states. Prices are in euros.
A garden for an evening stroll
The rose park around Chaim Frenkel Villa, on Vilniaus g. 74, has about 1,000 rose bushes. It is free to enter and stays open until 22:00 every day, from 10:00. The Art Nouveau villa dates from 1908. A summer festival with music is held on the grounds, and the 2026 season ran from 6 July to 27 August. Look at the Aušra Museum site for the latest programme.
Watching the sun go down
Lake Rėkyva is on the south side of the city. A renovated bridge with an observation deck crosses the water and a sandy beach lies nearby, and the tourist office puts the spot on its list of local recommendations. Arrive about an hour before sunset.
Light on the square
After dark, Sundial Square is lit up, and its renovated amphitheatre has seating. The 18 m obelisk with the gilded Archer is the focus. Nearby on Vilniaus gatvė is the Bell of Love, a sculpture whose heart-shaped opening is reported to catch the sun at the equinoxes.
Lakeside trail and sunrise
The 5 km Talkša trail passes the Gate of Love and the Place for Dreams, with 19 information stands along the way. It ends at the Salduvė hillfort, a quiet place to see the sun come up. The Iron Fox sculpture stands along the shore too. In winter the surface can be icy, so wear boots with grip.

- Chocolate: the Rūta museum on Tilžės g. 133 offers a two-hour guided tasting at 20 EUR per person. The tourist office lists it for groups of 6 to 20, with a minimum charge of 120 EUR, so call +370 610 41 050 to ask about two people.
