Seville Sightseeing: A Heat-Smart Order of Visits
Seville’s sights run to a clock: some open late, some close early, and the sun decides when walking outside is wise. Plan the order, and the day gets easier.
Morning, 09:30 to 12:00
The Alcázar opens at 09:30 and costs about €15.50 (reduced €8). Book a timed ticket on alcazarsevilla.org . Next door, the Cathedral and Giralda cost €13 online or €14 at the box office and open from 10:45 Monday to Saturday. On Sundays the doors open at 14:30, and a free visit runs 16:30 to 18:00 with an online reservation on catedraldesevilla.es .
Midday, 12:00 to 17:00
Move indoors. Casa de Pilatos (€12 ground floor, €18 full palace) and the Palacio de las Dueñas (about €12 to €13) are cool, and the Museo de Bellas Artes suits the hot hours. The Archivo General de Indias is free. Lunch is usually served from 13:30 to 16:00, and many shops close in the afternoon.
Late afternoon, 17:00 to 20:00
Choose Plaza de España and the Parque de María Luisa, both free. The plaza was built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition and has tiled alcoves for each Spanish province. Then walk to the river and the Torre del Oro, a 13th-century watchtower with a small naval museum, a short stroll from the bullring and the Hospital de la Caridad.
Night
The Setas de Sevilla stay open until 01:00, with tickets from €16. The walkway at 28 m is at its best after dark, and the Aurora show runs from April to October. See setasdesevilla.com .
What a combined day costs
A day with the Alcázar, the Cathedral, Casa de Pilatos and the Setas costs roughly €57 per adult at the lowest listed prices, before any reduced rates. Reduced rates and the free slots lower that figure. For guided help in the same stops, see Seville sightseeing tours and check what is included.
Weather and season
Summer alerts above 40C are common, so keep to the morning and evening blocks. Semana Santa 2027 runs from 21 to 28 March and the Feria de Abril is expected from 13 to 18 April 2027, so some streets are closed or crowded then.
Practical tips
Cover shoulders and knees for the Cathedral. Do not accept rosemary sprigs from strangers near the Cathedral, because they will demand €5 to €20. Keep a bag with water, since the plazas have little shade.
Pair this with the walking tours page and the two-day itinerary . Tip: arrive at the Alcázar for the 09:30 slot and finish by noon, so the hottest hours are spent indoors.
