Spa Stays and Sunsets for Couples in Djerba
Midoun on the east side of Djerba Island works as a base for a relaxed break for two. The romantic highlights here are spa treatments, quiet lanes, sunset by the water and a good dinner. This page lays them out as a two-night plan, with notes on where to stay. All prices are in Tunisian dinars (TND), and spa and room rates vary by season, so ask each place for a current quote.
Where to stay
For a spa break. Two resorts offer thalassotherapy, the seawater treatment programmes popular in Tunisia: the Hasdrubal Prestige Thalassa and Spa, and the Radisson Blu Palace Resort and Thalasso. Both are in the tourist-zone area around Mezraia and Sidi Mahrez, a short drive from Midoun. You will find details on the Hasdrubal hotels site and the Radisson Hotels site .
For village charm. Erriadh, roughly 15 km west of Midoun, offers Dar Bibine and Dar Dhiafa. See Dar Bibine and Dar Dhiafa for rooms.
A two-night plan
Night one
Arrive and settle in. If you are staying at a spa resort, book a first treatment for the next morning. Walk along the shore near your hotel as the light fades, and keep to places where you see a flag system or lifeguard cover. Ask locally if there are no flags, lifeguards or signs.
Day two
Morning: spa time. Afternoon: Djerba Explore at Ras Taguermess, where the Lalla Hadria museum shows jewellery, costume, ceramics and carpets. Adults pay about 32 to 37 TND, and the museum closes at 17:00. The heritage village beside it stays open until 22:00, so you can linger into the evening. Dinner at Houmt Souk’s fishing port: Restaurant Haroun is a replica of a boat deck at the water’s edge. Reviews on food and price are mixed, so reserve for sunset and read recent comments first. Houmt Souk is about 16 km from Midoun.
Day three
Spend a slow morning in Erriadh. Its lanes hold the Djerbahood murals, about 250 works by 150-plus artists from around 30 countries, in editions from 2014 and 2021. Some have faded. A stroll is free. Then head back for a last lunch before travelling.
Sunsets without animal rides
Beaches along the island offer open views as the sun goes down. Camel, horse and carriage rides are sold near the lagoon and beaches, but this guide does not recommend them, and a walk on the sand is just as good.
Small notes
- The Tunisian dinar has three decimals.
- Tunisia is Level 2 on the US State Department scale. The FCDO’s regional warnings do not name Djerba.
