Tickets, Guides and Site Shuttle at Pompeii
Visitors to Pompeii can choose between wandering independently and joining a guided visit. This page sets out the choices the park itself offers, how they connect, and what they cost in euros.
Which ticket suits which visit
The Pompeii Express ticket at EUR 20 admits you to the ancient city only. Pompeii+ at EUR 25 adds the Villa of the Mysteries, the Villa of Diomedes, the Villa Regina and Antiquarium at Boscoreale, and the shuttle bus. The 3 day ticket at EUR 30 builds on Pompeii+ with Oplontis, Villa Arianna, Villa San Marco, the Stabiae museum and Boscoreale, with one entry to each site. Buy tickets from the official seller, Vivaticket , or at the entrances and the self-service offices at Piazza Esedra, Porta Marina and Piazza Anfiteatro. Resellers add fees.
Park thematic itineraries
The two itineraries on offer are Civic Pompeii and Daily Pompeii. Each is a guided walk of roughly an hour and a half, priced at EUR 8 on top of your entry ticket, and children under 10 do not pay. They give a structure to a site that can feel overwhelming at first.
Guides at the gates
Licensed guides are available at the entrances. Compare what each offers, agree the price and duration before you start, and ask whether the tour covers the houses you most want to see. Since 15 August 2026 the House of Menander and the House of Pansa are among the houses open to visitors, though access can change.
The Artebus shuttle
The Pompeii Artebus shuttle runs between the park’s sites. Pompeii+ and the 3 day ticket include it. It is not wheelchair accessible. It links the park’s sites, including those covered by Pompeii+.
Villa Poppea viewing
At Oplontis, the excavation of Villa Poppea opens to visitors each Thursday between 10:30 and 12:00. It is a 15 minute viewing in Italian for up to 10 people at a time, with no booking, and it is included in the Oplontis ticket of EUR 8. The site is closed on Tuesdays.
Booking a tour before you travel
If you prefer to arrange a tour in advance, search GetYourGuide and read each listing closely. Check whether the entry ticket is part of the price and which tier it is, because Pompeii tickets are issued in the holder’s name and the park limits entry to 20,000 a day. Between 16 March and 14 October you also select a time slot.
