Family Activities Around Paphos, Cyprus
Families in Paphos can build a trip from a handful of reliable stops. The sun is the main thing to plan around, since July and August often reach 35 to 40 degrees. Fees below are 2026 figures in euros.
Easy wins
A sheltered beach. Coral Bay, about 12 km north-west of Kato Paphos, has soft sand and a shallow, gently sloping entry. Route 615 runs there from the harbour. The seabed has rock shelves and sea grass, so there is no coral to look at.
A free museum. The Archaeological Museum of the Pafos District, at Griva Digeni Avenue 43 in Ktima, charges no entry and is closed on Mondays. Check opening hours with the museum or on visitcyprus.com before you set off.
Sweets. Geroskipou is known for Loukoumi Geroskipou, a Cypriot Turkish delight with EU protected status. Children usually enjoy the factory shops, where flavours such as rose and lemon are on offer.
Days that need planning
Aphrodite Waterpark. It sits on the Kato Paphos coast and has slides, a lazy river and a wave pool. Opening dates and fees are on the official site . Arrive at opening to beat the afternoon heat.
Pafos Zoo. At Agios Georgios, Peyia, 15 km north-west of Paphos. Check the zoo’s website for hours and fees, and take a car.
Mosaics at Kato Paphos. The adult ticket is EUR 4.50. Reduced and free categories exist for younger visitors, so ask at the gate. The site is open and sunny, with a Roman Odeon and the mosaic floors of the Houses of Dionysos, Theseus, Aion and Orpheus. In winter, from 16 September to 15 April, it closes at 17:00.
A boat cruise. Latchi, about 40 km north, has Blue Lagoon cruises of roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. Fares for adults begin around EUR 20. Life vests and swim stops depend on the operator, so ask when you book.
Places to skip
- Tombs of the Kings: the tombs have deep open shafts and steep steps, with no shade, and a pushchair cannot manage it.
- Avakas Gorge: closed to visitors and signed as dangerous.
- Swimming at Petra tou Romiou: the surf and currents are unsafe and no lifeguards should be assumed. You can still stop for a photo from the viewpoint.
- Lara beach at night: banned during nesting season. Parents should explain why children must never touch nests or eggs.
- Quad and buggy rides on the Akamas tracks: cliff-edge sections have caused accidents.
Practical tips
Bring a hat, sun cream and plenty of water. Drive on the left, and ask the rental firm for child seats in advance. Pafos buses run to Coral Bay on route 615, and a single ticket costs about EUR 2.
