Organised Tours and Bookable Extras in Åndalsnes
Åndalsnes offers only a small set of organised tours. The town’s main attractions are open to anyone who turns up, and the handful of guided products centre on climbing and the gondola. Here is what can be booked, followed by the attractions you can reach without a guide.
Bookable options
- Guided Romsdalsstigen via ferrata. Departures start at Norsk Tindesenter, Havnegata 2. The Vestveggen tour, graded D, lasts 5 to 6 hours, ends at the Nesaksla summit and has a minimum age of 16. Prices start from about NOK 1,675. Introveggen is the easier tour, graded B at 3 to 4 hours for ages 12 and up. Seasons run from about 1 June to 20 October.
- Gondola and guided hike to Rampestreken. FjordNorway carries listings for tours that pair a Romsdalsgondolen ride with a guided walk to the viewpoint at 537 m.
- Golden Train packages. In summer a Golden Train tourist service links Åndalsnes and Bjorli. Some packages add the gondola and a meal at Eggen, the restaurant at the gondola’s top station.
- Cruise excursion. Hurtigruten lists Åndalsnes town walk and Romsdal gondola for passengers sailing with the line.
These are the main organised options. Compare any operator’s own page with an aggregator before you pay, and read what is included.

Booking tips
Gondola prices are set in tiers by date, and the opening hours move around too, so romsdalen.no is the place to confirm both. Guides are recommended on the via ferrata. Pack waterproof and warm layers for any guided mountain outing, since the weather can change quickly.
For the church, stavechurch.com lists visiting hours. For the film centre and its season, see the FjordNorway visitor centre page .
If you want something more structured
You can build a full day without a guided product. Trollstigen, Geiranger and Rødven are all reachable from town, and the Rauma Line makes a simple outing in itself. When the Trollstigen road is shut, check Vegvesen first.
