Bay of Bones
This open-air museum recreates a Bronze Age pile dwelling over the lake. Ashore at Gradiste there are the remains of a Roman-period fortress and an indoor museum. Outside the summer season it opens roughly from 09:00 to 16:00, and from October to April it is reported to close on Mondays.
St Naum
The monastery was founded in 905 and is still a place of worship, so dress modestly, speak softly and ask before photographing the frescoes or the iconostasis. Peacocks roam the grounds. The Black Drim springs are a short walk away, and the rowboat ride lasts about 30 minutes. The Albanian border is about 1 km away, which matters if you plan to cross with your passport.
Getting to the southern shore
The lake boat leaves the main pier at about 10:00 and starts back at about 15:30 or 16:00. Allow 90 minutes each way. Large boats charge about EUR 10 for the round trip and small ones about EUR 20. The boat is reported to pause at the Bay of Bones for 30 to 40 minutes, with museum entry paid on top. The public bus covers the distance in about an hour but runs only a few times a day, so check its timetable first. For a full account, see Sailing Stone Travel .
The Icon Gallery
Housed in the Church of the Virgin Peribleptos, the gallery is a separate ticket and is reported closed on Mondays. It is an indoor option for a day away from the lake.
City tours
Guided city walks and minibus tours are sold widely. Compare what each one includes. Entry to churches, the fortress and the museums is often extra. Hours for each site are listed on Tourism Attractions .
