A ceasefire has held since April, and Dubai’s flights, hotels, and attractions are operating and recovering, though the situation stays fluid (the current risk is mainly to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, not the city). The US State Department has the UAE at “Reconsider Travel” and the UK FCDO does not advise against travel, but both flag the regional situation. Ask three different Dubai desert safari operators for “the price” and you’ll get three different answers, and all three will be correct. Dubai’s bookable activities almost never come in one flavor, and the gap between the cheap tier and the expensive one is usually the entire point.
Desert safari: three tiers, not one price
A standard evening safari runs roughly AED 130-250 per person: a shared 4x4 pickup, 15-20 minutes of dune bashing, a sunset photo stop, camel riding, sandboarding, henna, and a BBQ dinner at a Bedouin-style camp with belly-dance and fire-show entertainment. Premium and VIP packages start around AED 399 and climb from there, buying a private air-conditioned 4x4, reserved or private seating, and sometimes a licensed camp bar. Alcohol is not part of the standard package; it shows up only at some premium and VIP camps, and it’s still illegal to bring your own bottle into the open desert. Book online rather than at a hotel desk, since online rates typically run 10-20% below counter prices, and weekday (Sunday-Thursday) dates undercut weekends. Snow in the desert is the novelty; the pricing tiers are the practical detail. A Snow Park day pass at Mall of the Emirates starts around AED 230, the Snow Classic Pass (park, cavern, and tobogganing) runs about AED 275, and a Ski Slope Pass buying two hours on the actual slope starts near AED 305. It’s fully indoor and air-conditioned, which makes it one of the few activities on this list that doesn’t care what the thermometer says outside.

The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding runs a genuinely different kind of morning or evening in a traditional wind-tower house in Al Fahidi: an Emirati host serves a Cultural Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Saturday Brunch, and takes open questions on UAE culture and history rather than reciting a script. Verdict: skip any listing that quotes one flat number for the desert safari or Ski Dubai, since both hide the tier that actually determines whether you enjoy the day.
