The cathedral and its roof
The cathedral at Calle Molina Lario 9 is known as La Manquita because its south tower was never finished and only the 84 m north tower stands. A popular story says the money went to the American War of Independence, but it is local lore and parish records suggest the funds went to a road. The official guided visit is EUR 15. For the rooftops, there is a narrow spiral staircase of about 200 steps, backpacks are not permitted, and the visit is suspended in bad weather. Book the rooftop through the cathedral’s site, and use its tariff and hours page for entry prices.
Caminito del Rey with a guide
The guided version of the gorge walk lasts about four hours and is run in Spanish and English. The walk goes one way from the Ardales side to El Chorro, with a supplied helmet that you wear throughout. Anyone under 8 is turned away, and older children must carry original ID. The ordinary ticket is EUR 10. Slots go fast when released, so keep your dates flexible and follow the official booking pages .
Granada packages
Many operators sell a coach ride plus an Alhambra ticket. The Alhambra’s own online day ticket is about EUR 22, and the Nasrid Palaces entry carries a half-hour slot that is printed on it. Ask any operator which slot you will get. The Patronato’s own site lists current hours and prices .
Cruises from Muelle Uno
Mundo Marino is the operator most often named for catamaran trips. Dolphin sightings are possible and never guaranteed. Pick a sailing time that fits the season, since the sun sets much earlier in winter.
Food tours and Picasso walks
Several private companies run tapas and market tours around Atarazanas and walks themed on Picasso. Check what a listing includes before paying. If you prefer to go alone, the Museo Picasso Málaga (EUR 13) and the Casa Natal on Plaza de la Merced (EUR 3) are the places to see.
Booking tips
- Book timed tickets such as the Alhambra and the Caminito first.
