Guided Visits and Museums in Manaus
Guided visits and museums in Manaus
Several of Manaus’s best-known attractions are visited with a guide or on a set route. This page gives the practical side of each: where it is, what it costs, when it opens and what to bring.
Teatro Amazonas
- Where: Praça São Sebastião, in the old centre.
- Format: guided tours only, around 40 minutes by one travel site’s estimate.
- Cost: R$20 for adults and R$10 for half-price tickets. Amazonas residents with photo ID, children up to 10 and people with disabilities pay nothing.
- Hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00, and Sunday and holidays from 09:00 to 13:00. Opening on Mondays has differed from year to year, so confirm on the day.
- Good to know: the building was inaugurated on 31 December 1896. On 27 July 2026 it was added to the World Heritage List as part of Amazonia Theaters. It still hosts performances, which can affect access. Opening details: Portal Amazônia .
Museu do Seringal Vila Paraíso
- What it is: a copy of a rubber plantation, put up as the set for the film A Selva and now run as a state museum. Staff show how rubber was tapped.
- Cost: admission is free. The Acamdaf cooperative boat from Marina do Davi, in Ponta Negra, charges R$21 one way and R$42 return.
- Hours: Monday to Saturday 09:00 to 15:00 except Wednesdays, when it closes, and Sunday 09:00 to 13:00.
- Tip: one guide says boats run at weekends and on holidays only, so ask at the marina before going. Allow half a day. Full story: Portal Amazônia .
MUSA, the Museu da Amazônia
- Where: Avenida Margarita 6305, east zone, within the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve.
- What you do: walk a guided forest trail and climb the tower of about 42 m.
- Hours: daily 08:30 to 17:00, closed on Wednesdays, with the last entry around 16:00.
- Cost: see the museum’s own website, where residents are offered a discount.

Mercado Adolpho Lisboa and the Porto Flutuante
- Market: opened in 1883 with iron from Europe, and said to be modelled on Les Halles. A seven-year restoration ended in October 2013. Free to enter. Hours from one guide: Monday to Saturday 06:00 to 18:00, Sunday and holidays 06:00 to 12:00.
- Stalls: fish, fruit, crafts and herbs.
- Floating port: a separate site beside the market. Riverboats leave from here for Santarém and Belém.
