Couples can fill a weekend in Verona with views, good food and an evening at the Arena. The ideas below come with the booking rules that affect them.

Evening views

Castel San Pietro’s terrace is free and faces the old town across the river. The funicular from Via Fontanelle Santo Stefano 6 runs until 21:00 from April to 25 October, but only until 17:00 in the cooler months from 26 October to March. The stairs are an option if you would rather walk. Ristorante Re Teodorico, on the hill, is listed for dinner; check its days before you go.

A softer option is a walk across Ponte Pietra, the Roman bridge that is open only to pedestrians. It dates from the 1st century BC, was blown up in 1945 and was rebuilt in 1957 to 1959 using recovered stones.

Il Sogno di Giulietta is a relais at Via Cappello 23 in the Juliet courtyard. Evening courtyard access is advertised by booking sites with different start times, so ask the hotel directly. Balcony access should not be assumed.

Casa Perbellini 12 Apostoli, Vicolo Corticella San Marco 3, holds three Michelin stars and serves lunch and dinner Tuesday to Friday and lunch on Saturdays. Book well ahead through the Michelin Guide entry . Il Desco has one star. A relaxed local option is Antica Bottega del Vino, Vicolo Scudo di Francia 3, for risotto all’Amarone or pastissada de caval.

Opera under the stars

The 104th Arena festival runs from 11 June to 11 September 2027. Seats on the steps are numbered, so partners can sit together; early-booking tickets start from about 28 EUR. Opening night is Beethoven’s Ninth, and the programme includes La Traviata, Carmen and the new Romeo and Juliet ballet. Buy at shop.arena.it and carry ID.

Juliet’s courtyard

Book a slot at verona.coopculture.it: 5 EUR for courtyard and balcony, 12 EUR with the house and tower. Hours are Tuesday to Sunday 09:00 to 19:00 and Monday 14:00 to 19:00. Locks, notes and gum are banned and fines apply.

A thermal day at Sirmione
