Verona Attractions: Castelvecchio, Giusti, Churches
Verona Attractions Worth Planning Around
This guide groups Verona’s paid attractions by type and explains how each one opens, with a pointer to the source to check before you go.
Castelvecchio Museum
The castle museum at Corso Castelvecchio 2 was built in 1354 to 1356 for Cangrande II. Carlo Scarpa rearranged it from 1958 to 1975, which is why modern steel and glass sit beside old brick. Look for Pisanello, Bellini, Mantegna and the statue of Cangrande I.

The four Chiese Vive churches
A combined pass covers San Zeno, the Duomo, Sant’Anastasia and San Fermo for about 8 EUR (about 7 reduced) and stays valid for 90 days; VeronaCard holders enter free. San Zeno has Mantegna’s altarpiece and a rose window by Brioloto. The Duomo holds Titian’s Assumption. Sant’Anastasia has Pisanello’s fresco of St George. San Fermo has two stacked churches and a ceiling like an upturned ship’s keel.
Giardino Giusti
A Renaissance garden dating from the 1500s, planted by Agostino Giusti, at Via Giardino Giusti 2. Its attractions are a boxwood labyrinth, cypress terraces and a belvedere with a grotesque mask. It is a garden only, with no animals. It is open every day except 25 December: 09:00 to 19:00 in summer and 10:00 to 18:00 in winter. Adult tickets are about 12 EUR in recent listings, with some restoration work under way. Visit giardinogiusti.com for the latest.
Teatro Romano and the Archaeological Museum
The Roman theatre stands on the hillside at Regaste Redentore 2, and the museum fills a former convent above it. Hours are Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 18:00 with last entry at 17:30, and it is closed on Mondays, 25 December and 1 January. The stage is installed for summer performances, including the Shakespeare Festival, and visitor routes change from 31 March. Check the official page for ticket prices.
Torre dei Lamberti
For a view, use the 84 m tower between Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signori. A full ticket is 6 EUR; VeronaCard holders take the stairs free and pay 1 EUR for the lift.
Is a pass worth it?
The VeronaCard is 33 EUR for 24 hours or 38 EUR for 48 hours. Because the Castelvecchio rates are changing and Giardino Giusti is discounted rather than free, list the sites first and compare the total with the card price.
