Walking in Jagodina, Paraćin and Lisine
There is no medieval old quarter to explore on foot in Pomoravlje District. Walking here means a stroll through Jagodina, a park beside the zoo, and two nature trails in the countryside. This guide lists each option with practical details. Costs are in Serbian dinars (RSD).
Route 1: Jagodina centre and the naive art museum
Jagodina is a flat town on the Velika Morava plain, so the centre is simple to walk. Aim for the Museum of Naive and Marginal Art at Boška Đuričića 10. Opening hours are 10:00 to 18:00 from Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday and 10:00 to 15:00 on Sunday. The museum began in 1960 as the Gallery of Self-taught Artists and was renamed in 2007. Visit the museum website before you go.
Route 2: Đurđevo Brdo park
The Đurđevo Brdo park lies about 2 km from the centre, and the zoo and the wax museum stand nearby. The distance suits a gentle walk or a short taxi ride, and the park gives you a green break from the town streets. Each venue sets its own hours, so check them before you plan the day.
Route 3: Lisine footpath
A footpath at the Lisine natural monument leads to the Veliki Buk waterfall, about 20 m high. Lisine is around 20 km east of Despotovac. Because the monument has first-category protection, stay on the marked path. The rock and soil near falling water can be slippery, so wear shoes with a good grip.
Route 4: Vrelo Grze
Vrelo Grze is a third-category natural monument on the Grza river, run by the Paraćin Tourist Organisation. It lies roughly 15 to 25 km from Paraćin, so ask the organisation or a local for the exact road before you set off.
An underground walk: Resava Cave
The guided tour of Resava Cave follows about 800 m of the roughly 4.5 km system. A group leaves at 08:30 and then every 45 minutes until 15:30. The ticket costs 700 RSD for adults, 650 RSD for students and pupils and 50 RSD for children under 7. Wear closed shoes and a jacket, because the cave is cold and damp. Details are on the operator’s page .
Monastery grounds
Walking through the grounds of Manasija, Ravanica or Kalenić is part of a visit, but these are active monasteries. Cover shoulders and knees, ask before photographing a church interior and keep voices low.
Practical points
Signs outside the towns are often written in Cyrillic only, so keep a map on your phone. Despotovac and the cave are reached by car or on a tour.
