Manuscripts and museums
The Matenadaran at 53 Mashtots Avenue takes tour reservations through its own site. Its Tuesday to Saturday hours run from 10:00 to 17:50, and the highlights include the Echmiadzin Gospel of 989 AD. The History Museum of Armenia is on Republic Square, with a permanent exhibition for 2,500 AMD and a temporary exhibition on myths, cults and cosmology for 4,000 AMD. It closes on Mondays. Erebuni, at 38 Erebuni Street in Arin Berd, is the fortress site founded in 782 BC by Argishti I, with a museum open Tuesday to Sunday 10:30 to 16:40 and entry of 1,500 AMD. Official pages: Matenadaran , History Museum and Erebuni .
The Cafesjian Center
The Cafesjian Center of the Arts is at 10 Tamanyan Street, inside the Cascade. Entrance is free, but the galleries are open only Friday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00, so plan a weekend visit if you want the exhibitions.
Factory and workshop visits
The Noy Brandy-wine-vodka Factory Museum is at Argisht Street 9 and offers tours in Armenian, English and Russian. Entry is 3,000 AMD without tasting, or 5,000 to 15,000 AMD with a tasting that varies by the age of the brandy. The Yerevan Brandy Company, known as ARARAT, takes advance bookings only, so reserve before you arrive and confirm the language. Megerian Carpet combines a museum, a workshop and carpet masterclasses, and its own site handles bookings. The museum price is not posted, so ask when you reserve.
Shared tours outside the city
Hyur Service, at 96 Nalbandyan Street, and Yerani Travel both run shared Garni and Geghard departures. The usual range on resale sites is about $30 to $35 per person. Ask where the pick-up is, because it may be at the Tamanyan statue by the Cascade and not at Republic Square. Read the operator’s own listing on Hyur Service .
Planning notes
- The History Museum and the Matenadaran are closed on Mondays, so schedule those tours for Tuesday to Saturday.
- Erebuni tours and brandy tours need booking ahead, so do not turn up without a reservation.
- Pay for city transport with a contactless card or phone, since cash ended in February 2025.
