Lindos Boat Trips and Guided Visits
Most visitors see Lindos in one of three ways: by public bus, on a coach tour from Rhodes Town, or by sea. The right choice depends on how much time you want in the village and how you feel about boats. Prices below are in euros and come mainly from reseller listings, so treat them as a guide.
If you want the sea
Rhodes Town to Lindos by boat. A full-day boat leaves Mandraki harbour around 08:45 and returns around 17:30. The route calls at Lindos Bay and adds swim stops at Anthony Quinn Bay and Tsambika Bay. Listed prices run from about €50 to €56. This is the one tour that combines a swim-heavy day with a landing at the village.
From St Paul’s Bay. Boats for the Lindos coast leave from the bay close to the chapel. Gin Tonic Lindos Sailing offers six hours on a sailing boat with four swim stops, about €70. The Melani glass-bottom boat heads out to Paul’s Bay, the cliffs at Navarone and the caves. Book early in July and August.
By kayak. Trekking Hellas runs the Discover Lindos sea kayak tour for a full day, starting at Vlycha Beach, from about €140. It is held on Sundays from April to October, and on other days if you ask. The day includes snorkelling, lunch and a visit to the Lindos archaeological site. Details are on the Trekking Hellas page .
If you want a coach
Escorted bus tours from Rhodes Town include free time in the village. The coach removes any planning and sometimes brings a guide, and reseller bundles with a guide start around €25, a different figure from the Ministry’s admission price. The public KTEL bus is a cheaper alternative at €5.50 each way, with a journey of about an hour to an hour and three quarters. See ktelrodou.gr for departures.
What to see once you arrive
The Acropolis. Entry is about €20 full price and €10 reduced, with timed slots, so check hhticket.gr before you go. The ascent is on foot and takes 10 to 25 minutes. Restoration work has been under way since 1985, so some sections may be fenced.
The Church of the Panagia. Its bell tower dates to 1489, and the frescoes are 18th-century. An Ecclesiastical Museum is attached to the church; ask about hours at the door.
The folk collection. The Papakonstantis house is a traditional mansion displaying dishes and costumes. It tends to open only in the season.
Putting it together
For a single day from Rhodes Town, the full-day boat suits swimmers and the bus suits anyone who wants the Acropolis. For a stay in the village, do the Acropolis on the first morning and book a boat or the kayak day for the second. Summer is hot, with afternoons regularly above 35 C, and wildfire risk is high from April to October. The UK government advice asks visitors to follow local guidance and the 112 alerts.
