Latchi Sights Ranked by Time Needed
Latchi has a short list of sights, so ranking them by the time they take is the simplest way to plan. The list starts with what is on foot from the quay and ends with the longer outings.
Thirty minutes: the harbour
Walk the quay for working fishing boats beside yachts and the stone carob warehouses that were once part of the village’s export trade. Latchi was an old carob port, and several of those warehouses now hold restaurants. A short stroll covers it.
One hour: the Baths of Aphrodite
The grotto pool and botanical garden lie a short drive west of the harbour and cost nothing. Visitors are asked not to swim or wade. The paved road reaches the Baths, and the tarmac ends nearby. Bus 622 stops here from Polis and Latchi, and the buses back leave at 06:30, 08:30 to 12:30 and 14:30 to 18:30.
One hour: Marion-Arsinoe Archaeological Museum, Polis
The museum is at Leoforos Makariou III 26. Hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 15:00, and it is closed on Sunday and public holidays. Admission is free. Polis is 4 km east of Latchi, with a square and cafes.
Two hours: Smigies forest trail
The Smigies picnic site is a Forestry Department trailhead in the Akamas Forest, about 2.5 km from Neo Chorio. The two circular trails are 2.5 km (about 1 hour) and 6 km (about 2 hours). VisitCyprus has the trail details.
Three hours: Blue Lagoon by boat
The crossing is 30 to 45 minutes each way, and a shared cruise takes 2.5 to 3 hours with a swim stop. Fontana Amorosa and the Akamas coast show from the water. The coast is within the Natura 2000 network, so boats keep anchors off the seagrass, and visitors should not feed or chase wildlife. Boat operators include Cyprus Mini Cruises, Alkion, Paphos Sea Cruises and Latchi Queen.
Half a day: the road and track beyond the Baths
A rough track leads from the Baths of Aphrodite to Fontana Amorosa and the Blue Lagoon. It has exposed drops, and walking it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours each way for about 6 km. A normal rental car is not suited to it, and most rental contracts exclude unpaved roads. Choose a 4x4 allowed by its contract, a guided tour or a boat.
Sights outside the area
Avakas Gorge is closed to visitors on the Pegeia and Kathikas side, so do not plan a visit. Lara Bay is a protected turtle nesting beach with strict summer rules, usually reached from Pegeia. Paphos, 40 to 45 km away, has Kato Paphos Archaeological Park (EUR 4.50) and the Tombs of the Kings (EUR 2.50 on a separate ticket).
