Multi Country Trips Around Kazungula
Spending two to four days here means moving between countries, and the Kazungula crossing is the link. A short route can cover a Chobe safari, a river lodge and the Falls without feeling hurried, provided you plan around border time. This page gives a sample plan day by day, then the paperwork and money details.
Day one: Kasane and Chobe
Base yourself in Kasane, Botswana, about 8 km west of the Kazungula Bridge. Go on an open-vehicle drive into Chobe National Park from about 3:00 pm, through Sedudu Gate, and watch elephants come down to drink. Sleep in Kasane or take a boat to a lodge on the Namibian side.
Day two: river morning, then cross to Zambia
Start with a three-hour Chobe river cruise, then cross the bridge into Zambia and continue to the Livingstone area, a drive of roughly 80 km to the Falls. Settle in for the night.
Day three: Livingstone Island and the Falls
Livingstone Island tours go out with compulsory guides, and Devil’s Pool is usually open for swimming from about mid-August to mid-January, depending on the river. When the pool is closed, operators can offer Angel’s Pool. If you want more adrenaline, white-water rafting runs in the Batoka Gorge below the Falls, and the 111 m bungee off the Victoria Falls Bridge is run by Shearwater. Low-water rafting from about August to December gives the longest trips, while high water shortens or closes them, so ask the operator.
Day four option: Namibian lodge stay
Instead of Zambia, spend two nights at a lodge on the Chobe in Namibia. Chobe Water Villas lies in the Kasika Conservancy and faces Chobe National Park and Sedudu Island, with a boat from Kasane of about 15 minutes. Ichingo Chobe River Lodge is on Impalila Island and is known for birding. You clear Namibian immigration at Kasane before boarding.

- It does not cover an overnight stay in Botswana or travel on to Namibia.

- Passport validity of six months beyond arrival is required, with two blank pages for Zambia and three for Botswana.
- Check the current application process for the UniVisa before you go.
Money, driving and health
The Zambian kwacha and the Botswana pula are the local currencies, and operators often quote in US dollars. Drivers pay a per-vehicle toll on the bridge, so confirm the rate. Park fees at Sedudu Gate are about BWP 270 per adult per day from April 2026, in cash. The area has malaria, with the highest risk from about November to April, so ask a doctor about antimalarials. Do not swim in the rivers, because of crocodiles and hippos, and walk by the water only with a licensed guide.
