Paphos Heritage Sites: Mosaics and Churches
The Paphos area is a World Heritage listing, and its sights fall into clear themes. Use this page to choose a theme and see what each site charges. Fees are 2026 euro amounts that the Department of Antiquities can change at any time.
Roman Paphos
The Kato Paphos Archaeological Park (EUR 4.50) is the core. Four houses carry the mosaic floors: Dionysos, Theseus, Aion and Orpheus. The Odeon, the Saranta Kolones ruins and the harbour lighthouse are in the same grounds, next to the sea. Ask at the gate about reduced and free ticket categories.
The Tombs of the Kings are a separate site about 2 km to the north and cost an additional EUR 2.50. Despite the name, nobody royal was buried there. The rock-cut tombs belonged to officials and well-off citizens. There is almost no shade, and the tombs deserve a respectful, quiet visit.
Medieval Paphos
Paphos Castle (EUR 2.50) closes the harbour on its west side. Groups of more than 10 pay 20% less. From the roof you can see the fishing boats and the town.
The cult of Aphrodite
Palaepaphos, at Kouklia, 14 km south-east of Paphos, was one of the great sanctuaries of the goddess. The EUR 4.50 ticket includes the museum, which is housed in the Lusignan manor house and shows the cone-shaped stone that stood for Aphrodite. Aphrodite’s Rock itself, Petra tou Romiou, lies further along the coast. It is a viewpoint with a legend attached, and swimming there is not advised because drownings have been reported.
Christian Paphos
- Panagia Chrysopolitissa in Kato Paphos is a free open site. St Paul’s Pillar stands in its grounds.
- Agia Paraskevi in Geroskipou has five domes and free entry. Cover your shoulders and knees.
- The Enkleistra of Agios Neophytos, 10 km north at Tala, is a hermit’s cave cut into the cliff and decorated with frescoes. The ticket of EUR 2 includes the museum. The cell and museum open 09:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00 between April and October, then 09:00 to 16:00 from November to March. Closing days are 25 December, 1 January, Green Monday, Easter Sunday and 15 August.
Bronze Age and museum stops
Maa-Palaeokastro occupies a rocky headland at Coral Bay and records a Late Bronze Age settlement. Finish at the Archaeological Museum of the Pafos District, Griva Digeni Avenue 43 in Ktima. Entry is free and the museum is closed on Mondays.
