Tours and Guided Visits in Lika-Senj County

Lika-Senj County has few commercial tour operators. The guiding that does exist comes from the parks and the Tesla Centre, and it is aimed mostly at groups. This page answers the common questions. Prices are in euros.

Can I take a guided tour at Plitvice on my own?

Plitvice guiding is set up for groups of 15 or more. A half day of up to 4 hours costs 120 euros, and a full day of 5 to 6 hours costs 170 euros, with up to 50 people per guide. Reserve ahead. Individual visitors follow the signed programmes, which are labelled A, B, C, E, F, H, K1 and K2, and use the boat and train that come with the ticket.

What does Northern Velebit offer?

Group guiding costs 120 euros for a half day and 150 euros for a full day. The “Day with a ranger” suits small parties: up to 4 people ride in an off-road vehicle with a park ranger for 60 euros per adult and 30 euros per child. A group needs to notify the park 7 days ahead. The park usually runs from early May to mid-November.

Can I tour the Tesla Centre?

Yes, if you are a group of 15 or more. A guided tour costs 20 euros in Croatian and 30 euros in English. Other visitors walk through on their own, with a transformer demonstration each hour on the hour. The centre in Smiljan is closed on Mondays and holidays, and an adult ticket is 10 euros.

What about wildlife tours?

Commercial wildlife tours are not sold in the county. The Kuterevo Bear Refuge is open in season with free entry and donations welcome, so check hours before travelling.

What about the coast?

Senj has a fortress, Nehaj, built in 1558 and run by the town museum. For hours and prices contact Gradski muzej Senj on +385 53 881 141. Zavratnica Cove in Velebit Nature Park costs 5 euros per person to enter, and visitors walk its trails without a guide.
