Couples Guide to St. Moritz
Couples come to St. Moritz for snow, big views and unhurried evenings. This guide lists seven ideas that work for two people, with the months each one is available. Prices are in Swiss francs (CHF).
1. Dinner or a night above the valley
The Romantik Hotel Muottas Muragl stands at 2,456 m beside the top station of the Muottas Muragl funicular, which has carried passengers since 1907. It has only 16 rooms and suites. Because the funicular runs until 23:00 in season, an evening meal at the top does not strand you there. A summer return on the funicular is CHF 42.50. See muottasmuragl.ch for rooms and dining.
2. A sleigh through Val Fex
From Sils Maria, horse-drawn sleighs head into Val Fex in winter. It is a winter-only outing, and you should confirm prices and departure times with the operator.
3. A slice of Nusstorte
Café Hanselmann is famous for Engadiner Nusstorte, the regional nut tart. Check hanselmann.ch for hours and prices.
4. A stroll around the lake
The path around Lake St. Moritz is free and takes roughly an hour. If you visit in winter, you may find events on the ice: the Snow Polo World Cup is scheduled for 22 to 24 January 2027 and White Turf racing for 7, 14 and 21 February 2027. Keep to the marked routes and respect closures.
5. A train over the Bernina pass
The Bernina line runs from St. Moritz to Tirano in Italy in about 2 h 15 min to 2 h 30 min. Panoramic seats cost about CHF 32 each way to reserve. Bring a passport or ID card. In summer you can also take the Lake Sils boat from Sils Maria to Maloja, which sails for about 40 minutes.
6. An afternoon with Segantini
The Segantini Museum is devoted to Giovanni Segantini, an Italian painter, and occupies a building made for the purpose in 1908. Tickets for adults are CHF 15. It is closed on Mondays, and it reopens on 10 December 2026 after its autumn break. The Museum Engiadinais opens its doors again on 6 December 2026.
7. A bob run ride, together
The Olympia Bob Run sells guest rides from 22 December 2026 for CHF 269 per person. Passengers must be 16 or older, with a guardian’s signature under 18 and a medical confirmation at 70 or over. Riding the Cresta Run is a solo activity, so it is not an option for couples.
Choosing your season
Winter brings snow, sleighs and evening skiing. Summer brings the lifts, the boat and long walks. Late October to late November is the in-between time, with several venues closed.
