The national park normally welcomes walkers from early May until mid-November, snow permitting. Of the trail’s length, 16.2 km lies inside the national park and 26.4 km inside Velebit Nature Park. The park ticket is 7 euros for one day. Ask the park about trail conditions before setting out.
Safe walking
- Stay on marked paths. UK travel advice mentions unexploded mines in remote parts of Plitvice and says not to walk on uncultivated land.
- Bura gusts can be strong on the coast, so check the DHMZ forecast before walking in Senj.
