Museums with set entry rules
At the Rietveld Schröder House, all visitors need an online slot, including Museumkaart holders. Slots begin every 20 minutes between 11:00 and 16:00, with a pause from 13:00 to 14:00 and a last slot at 15:20. Children up to 12 pay 3 euros, ages 12 to 17 pay 10.50, and tickets open three months ahead. Friday evenings stay open until 21:00 from the first Friday in May to the last in August.
The Centraal Museum at Agnietenstraat 1 is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, and its adult ticket is 18 euros, with ages 0 to 12 free. Highlights include the Utrechts Schip, an oak cargo ship found in 1930, and Dick Bruna’s studio.
Museum Speelklok, at Steenweg 6, runs tours on the half hour from 10:30 to 15:30 and a short one at 16:20, and a ticket works at any time on the day you pick. Check museumspeelklok.nl for prices.
The Spoorwegmuseum at Maliebaanstation 16 is reached on an NS train that leaves Utrecht Centraal about hourly. In 1942 and 1943 more than 1,200 Jewish residents of Utrecht were deported from this station, and a memorial stands on the museum grounds. Visit it with respect.
