Victoria Falls Activities, Fees and Seasons
The Zambezi sets the calendar at Victoria Falls Town. Water level decides whether you can raft, how much of the gorge you see and how wet you get at the viewpoints. This guide lines up the main activities with the season and the money.
Low water, about August to December
The river drops and the full rafting day opens, running from Rapid 1 to Rapid 19. The gorge is clear of mist, so views down into it are sharp. Devil’s Pool on Livingstone Island in Zambia usually opens from mid-August, though dates vary each year. It is reached from the Zambian bank, not from Zimbabwe.
High water, about January to July
Rafting still runs in two windows, roughly January to March and May to July, but starts lower down at about Rapid 11 and finishes near Rapid 23. The flood peaks around March to June, and the river is closed to rafting for that stretch. The dates shift every year. The rainforest is at its wettest, and the spray can hide the view.
