Attractions and Guided Tours in Punta Gorda
Organised tours in Punta Gorda are few and small. The main choices are harbor and river cruises, a swamp buggy at a ranch, a guided wildlife sanctuary visit, and private mural walks. No hop-on hop-off or city bus tours operate, so many visitors pair one booked trip with a free self-guided walk. Hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November, so confirm any booking after a storm.

Swamp buggy tours at Babcock Ranch
At 8502 FL-31, Babcock Ranch Eco Tours offers a 90-minute swamp buggy eco-tour and a walking tour. Book through FareHarbor or by phone at 800-500-5583. Adults pay around $27 on booking sites; ask about child and senior fares when you reserve. Operating hours run from about 9 am into the early afternoon. Wildlife varies from day to day.
Guided visits to Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary
The sanctuary is at 41660 Horseshoe Rd, just west of SR-31. You can only visit on a guided tour, and every visit needs a reservation: call 239-543-1130. Tours have been offered on Monday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Ask about the admission fee and about any closure in the summer months when you call.
Mural tours
Downtown holds more than 30 historic murals. Free Otocast audio gives a self-guided tour year-round. For a guide, the Mural Society leads private walks between December and March for $200, covering up to 10 people, with extra people at $10 each up to 18 in total.
Fishing with a captain
Private inshore trips go out from local marinas. Directories list half-day boats at roughly $500 to $1,000 and full days at roughly $900 to $2,500. Whether the fishing license is included depends on the captain, so ask first.
Moving between stops
There is no fixed-route bus in the county. Charlotte County Transit Dial-A-Ride picks up at the curb, needs a reservation and serves the general public. Most visitors use a car for the ranch and sanctuary.
